What This Blog Is About

I watch a lot of videos and enjoy looking at other author websites. Recently, there has been a really strong trend in how author sites and videos are made, and I just wanted to clarify here what this blog is about, if you haven't already noticed. 😸

First of all, it's a place for readers to find out what I'm up to and when that next book will actually be out. Secondly, it's a place for personal expression, as demonstrated by the little cat emojis. This is where you'll get an idea of the person behind the books and a glimpse inside my brain, so fasten your seatbelts. You'll also learn a bit about my own creative process.

I do believe in authenticity, so, right away, let me tell you that Emily is a pen name. The reason I decided to go with two names is because I was writing for two age groups. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, and I still think it is.

While other authors may coach you on how to write and tell you the right ways and the wrong ways, I don't plan to jump on that bandwagon. I would rather share my experiences and, when I feel compelled to do so, tell you how I write. Results may vary.

That being said, there are some wrong ways to write, but it's not my place to discourage you if you happen to be an aspiring writer. If I were to give you any advice, it would be to write. Enjoy playing with words. Write the way you want to hear the story told. It's okay to make mistakes. Like I always like to say, you have to put something down so you'll at least have something to fix.

Oh, I may launch into a tirade from time to time over grammar. I'm sorry. It has happened.

I'm not here to pretend that my life is perfect. I am a work in progress. I make mistakes, too. About once a year or so, I try to reread my published books and make corrections. After that, I will think it's perfect, but I will always find more the next time.

My goal, as an author, is to write books, publish books, and just blog about whatever is on my mind. That's pretty much it.
